Bunker Project Episode 80:

Podcasting with The Mighty Quin

Marcel Lapointe checks in and gives us an update on his Movie Yearbook project. Going to a Movie and doing a blog post review every day of the year! That is 366 movies for this year.
He is 74 days into the Movie Yearbook and is feeling a little burnt out but he is plugging away. He loves seeing movies and will continue with his quest to see 366 movies this year. The best movie yet is Hugo, The Artist and A Separation. Three way tie.

Podcasting:

Quin talks about his unique method of recording podcasts.
He uses a firewire connection exclusively. He gets great sound and says the only downside is the system is expensive.

He uses Apple Logic software to record his shows.
He uses Apogee (firewire interface) to connect his Microphones.
- Quin explains the pros and cons of using this type of setup.

Topics covered:

  • building a community
  • podcasting in a live environment
  • podcast hardware and software
  • cost of equipment – apogee duet and ensemble
  • tangents about random military stuff
  • St. Bernards ???
  • Video recording software – vidblaster / wirecast

James gives us an update about the latest in the gaming industry.

Interesting and very long question for the Gaming Dudes…
And a long conversation follows.

We talk with Quin about how he interviewed the producers of the movie Act Of Valor.

Listen to the show to hear all the crazy conversations happening at the Bunker.

See you next week… same Bunker Time, same Bunker station.

Bunker Project Episode 79:

Macadamia Nuts and Joomla

We are already on our fourth beer starting off the show because we’ve been doing voice overs all afternoon!

The Mighty Quin from The Art of Podcasting interviewed Andrew and Bob for his show earlier today. And he is here at the bar joining us at the Bunker Bar! And Andrew gets to use the Heil PR-40 today… Quin brought it up with him. He is keeping his Electro-Voice RE20 to himself though.

Quin talks about his podcasts.

The Chairborne Commandos – a podcast for US Veterans
The Art of Podcasting
True Blood Podcast
The Dexter Podcast

Andrew is exhausted because he just flew in from Hawaii and didn’t get any sleep on the plane…
but he brought the Macadamia Nuts back for everyone and we are doing a black beer macadamia nut pairing.

Bonnie says Trover is hot!

Digressions galor this week: Everybody Drink!

Arik asks what the Podcasting Culture is like in the United States comparred to here?

Quin said that the Bunker Project podcast is where it is at… combining an offline meeting and a podcast. Very Cool.

Quin tells his story about getting harassed at the border.
Hilarious story about his experience driving to Vancouver for the show – listen to the show to hear it.

The feature topic:

Joomla

  • Joomla is a content management system
  • Professional Grade Website
  • Tons of Plugins and Widgets – more than WordPress
  • Plugins focus on business apps
  • WordPress plugins focus on Social Media and plugins that appeal to bloggers
WordPress is great for the DIY web master or blogger but if your in business, Kurt and Sanj agree that Joomla or Drupal is the way to go.

See you next week… same Bunker Time, same Bunker station.
